This katsu is fried to perfection with crispy breading while retaining the moist and tender pork texture and flavor. I really enjoyed the Cheese Katsu - the cheese was ooey and gooey in the best way possible while still being super crunchy on the outside! Paired very nicely with the refreshing cabbage salad. Best tip from our server: put the cutlet sauce in the grounded sesame seeds for extra umami and savory flavor!

For the longest time, I avoided this place because I was not the biggest fan of the Korean street food items they served. I've previously had their corndogs and tteokbboki and wasn't a big fan of either to want to come back. Their corndogs are good but definitely on the doughy side and over the years I've realized I don't like tteokbboki in general and theirs was unfortunately not an exception. However, I discovered that they had spicy chicken feet on their menu with a set option including rice balls and steamed eggs for an amazing price. (39$). Their chicken feet are spicy but not unbearable and the rice balls and eggs together make the meal even better (10/10). The chicken feet, surprisingly have a good amount of meat and compared to other places, it isn't just bone. The rice balls, you have to make by yourself which may be fun for some or quite tedious. I usually make the rice balls but my bf prefers to just scoop a large portion and eat it out of his bowl, so there are two ways to enjoy it. The eggs can sometimes come out tasting a little burnt but most times it has not been a problem for me. Recently, I also ventured to try their other items and their udon set (10/10) is amazing. Probably our favorite item on their menu second to the chicken feet. The soup is very clean and simple, hard to mess up. Would definitely recommend coming here for their chicken feet and udon! Their service is amazing and very quick, making my time here very enjoyable.

The Basac is a small but spacious Korean restaurant tucked away in Murray Hill, Queens. The exterior is unbelievably unassuming, but the interior is cool and vibrant, with recycled shipping containers and black sharpie doodles for walls. Do keep an eye on the sign though as you walk down the street or you just might miss the place; I've certainly done that aplenty. * Sanuki Udon $14.95 My partner and I were shocked by how delicious this was. The udon was thick, firm, and bouncy, but the broth was the clear star of the show. I don't even like dashi and soy sauce-based broths, but would 100% reorder this. * Fried Rice Wrapped with Omelette $15.00 I just had a simple curry omurice a few days prior, but this one was in a whole other ballpark. The complexity of flavors was mindblowing; you have the smokiness of the bacon, the sweet caramelization of the roasted bell peppers and onions, and the tanginess of the ketchup and gravy. It's definitely a bit much after a few bites but the shredded cabbage on the side offsets that heaviness. * Regular Kimbap $8.00 Solid kimbap. I had my eye on the cheese kimbap (which is just the addition of a slice of American cheese), but my partner said no. Thank god he did, because the omelette left me feeling stuffed, and hence I left him in charge of finishing the kimbap :) **They offer a 5% cash discount, so bring cash!

Few things are better than comfort food and the Basac does it very well. A local neighborhood spot, the theme is pretty neat - they use the walls of a shipping container to give off the vibe that you're eating in one. Definitely unique. The menu here is nothing high brow - katsu of various flavors, spicy rice cakes and kim bap but everything here is fresh and tastes awesome. The katsu was the perfect size and was pounded to order and then fried. The flavor was perfect as was the way they cooked the cutlet - perfectly juicy. If you've got an appetite, you can also throw in a small side of spicy rice cakes for a few bucks more which is nice in case you don't have the stomach to eat an entire side order. Prices here are very reasonable and the owners here are friendly and welcoming. If this place was closer to downtown Flushing, I'd be here every week but I'm willing to trek a bit out of the way to eat here again. Thumbs up.

I ordered the cheese pork cutlet and two pieces of fried squid. Unfortunately, the fried squid was a bit disappointing; the batter was too thick, and I could barely taste the squid. On a positive note, the cheese pork cutlet came with a tasty soup. While the cheese katsu itself tasted good, I think next time i'll dine in for an even better experience. The dressing for the little cabbage salad was incredibly tasty; I wish I could buy a lot of it for home. Lol

Got our usual cheesy pork cutlet and shrimp cutlet (which is breaded shrimp; just to make sure bec looked like an over-rice dish during a previous visit; comes with tartar sauce but would prefer with tempura sauce). Tried the fried rice omelet, which went great with the cutlets and the pork stuffed pepper, came with tempura sauce. I will try more of their Basac street food options next time - by piece but can make a combo of them. I liked that they left a squeeze-bottle of the dressing for the shredded cabbage. Corndog with cornflakes was just ok. Their udon broth is on the sweeter side. Pay cash for 5% off bill.

Fast service and a lot of food! My friend and I stopped by lunch on a weekday and it was pretty empty. We got a few things to share and everything was good. I was particularly craving stew cuz it was cold and their army stew hit just the spot for me.

We came here because we were really craving Korean street food and this hit the spot. We got the sweet garlic boneless chicken, dukbokki, and the cheese kimbap. The kimbap was simple, but very delicious. The food comes out pretty quickly too. We enjoyed our simple but yummy meal here and I'm already looking forward to trying more food from here- I saw lots of people getting the sets and the diy dukbokki. Some people even come here by themselves and there is no judgment, just quick and easy service.

3.5 stars overall for the food. 5 stars for the excellent service! Korean Street Food at The Basac is exactly the meal you want for a night out, simple and tasty, to get your drink on and to enjoy the warm full belly you'll have when done. My first visit was for take out so I'm so glad to have a first sit-down meal here. Everything we ordered was good and definitely street food options on the menu. I love that it's no frills and just good. Some dishes could be better but I had ordered with a select group of folks who are not so adventurous. Stick to the basics and you'll be fine. The fried corn dogs were a hit with the family. So nice to have it in house rather than to go given the texture. The fries were a hit as well, so much flavor and the sauce as well as the toppings made it a full appetizer. I ordered 6 pcs of fried dumplings. Note: the fried dumplings are by piece so you can order as little or as many as you like. These were delicious and filled with glass noodles and veggies. And my main was the cheese topokki. I am a wuss when it comes to heat but this was just tolerable. It was really good, I just couldn't eat too much. My tongue was on fire which I washed down with the peach soju. Problem solved. Hee hee Totally recommend this place for a casual and quick dinner. Perfect for the drinking buddies and those who love K-Street food. Favorite dish was still the omelette rice.

Order: - Set (Tonkatsu + Spicy Rice Cakes) (4/5) - Boneless Fried Chicken with Sweet Garlic Sauce (4/5) - Fish cake with Soup (4/5) Pros: - Large food portions - Great set menus to try different katsu and sides Cons: - Small restaurant that can get busy around lunch time on the weekends - Boneless chicken can be a little dry and it doesn't help that the outside is very crispy Overall: A good spot in Flushing for tonkatsu. Definitely not the best tonkatsu I've ever had, but it's a good spot for lunch with their set menus
